TRAINING
YOUR DOG TO BE A GOOD CITIZEN
|
|
Man & Dog Security and Dog Training Centre provides 4 levels
of classes from beginners (basic obedience), through Grades 1 to
3. Each level has been designed from our background of many years
of training and Dog Trial experience to provide a progressive learning
regime for both dog and handler.
We firmly believe that the handler's education is just as important
as their dog's, since over time the handler and dog become both
a team and friends. Only mutual respect and understanding can make
such a relationship function in a society that is ever more demanding
and critical of canine behavior. With handlers now being held responsible
for the actions of their canine companions, the development of handler
control, canine social skills and obedience is essential !!!
At Man & Dog Security and Dog Training Centre we are able to
apply many years of experience with Dog Psychology to assist handlers
in overcoming aberrant behavior in their dogs.
This includes retraining and behavioral adjustment of the following
problems:
Agressive Behavior, Protest Biting, Running Away, Excessive Barking,
Hole Digging, Over-exuberance (jumping up on people), Timidity etc.
Man & Dog Security and Dog Training Centre provides classes
designed to meet the special needs of puppy and puppy handler education.
Cute and cuddly puppies are lovable, fun, bundles of joy. For most
animals, including humans and dogs, learning is quickest during
child/puppyhood. Unfortunately, dogs learn some of their worst habits
while they are still puppies. Puppy training becomes a blend of
love and authority that can create a happy basis for developing
the canine social skills needed by a maturing dog. Preventing the
development of bad habits and antisocial behavior will save considerable
grief and frustration later.

In the Beginners Class all of the following lessons are done on
lead. Sit, Stand, Drop, Sit Stay, Drop Stay, Recall (first stage),
Food Refusal, Retrieving (first stage), Socialisation with Dogs
and People. The Beginners Class is the foundation of any serious
obedience training and for all the levels that will follow. Any
bad habit that are not dealt with at this level may become problematic
in advanced levels.

It
is worth remembering that both the handler and dog should enjoy
training together if any reasonable success is to be expected. Learning
can become tedious and lead to aggravation all around if you forget
to have some fun once in a while.
In
the Novice Class all of the above Beginners exercises are done on
and off lead, along with; Stand For Examination, Change of Pace
While Healing, Recall To The Finish and Retrieving (second stage).
In
the Open Class all of the above Beginners and Novice exercises are
done off lead. Additional exercises include; High Jump, Broad Jump
and Retrieving the Dumbbell On the Flat.
When
the above elements have been mastered, there is the Utility Class;
Seek for and return lost articles to handler, Speak on Command,
Food Refusal, Scent Discrimination, Directed Jumping, Signal Exercise,
Group Examination.

& AGILITY CLASSES |
|
Advanced dogs and handlers can take advantage of our professional
experience, considerable field equipment and purpose built training
facilities. Though our extensive and scenic grounds are an ideal
Agility training area, Tracking Classes are often held in a variety
of bushland areas (with appropriate permission) so that the dogs
do not become accustom a given location.
