In December, at the end of each training year, we hold a Fun
Trial & Barbeque for our students and their families. We
provide a qualified practicising Trial Judge and award trophies
for the highest scores in each event. Awards are given for Novice,
Obedience 1 and 2, and Most Improved Dog (an encouragement award).
The aim of this occasion is to provide students with an opportunity
to test themselves and their dogs in a real competition, but in
a familiar and friendly environment. Performance scores can later
be discussed over a BBQ and drinks, with a view to improving areas
of weakness. Dog training should be a rewarding experience for both
handler and dog, so the emphasis here is on family and FUN!
Please Note: participation is voluntary and a small fee is charged
to cover expenses.
Also in December is our annual Christmas Dinner, generally
held at the Cuckoo Restaurant in Olinda. An opportunity for students
to share in a fun and casual evening of good food and great company.
Certificates are awarded when the handler and their dog have been
tested and shown to have successfully completed the tasks associated
with their grade. Certificates are awarded for Beginners and Grades
1 through 3 (see sample below). The certificates are A5 size, signed
and laminated for durability.
